One pedestrian killed in a fatal car crash on the southbound 101 Highway
According to Mercury News, a male pedestrian was hit and killed Monday morning by a motorist on the southbound 101 Highway in south San Francisco.
California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Montano stated that a male driver was giving a friend a ride home when he struck the pedestrian on the 101 Freeway near Grand Avenue. The driver continued to his friend’s home and then called 911.
Without specific information of where the possible collision took place, CHP officer located the pedestrian in the slow lane and partial right shoulder near Grant.
CHP officer Montano said it’s unclear why the man was “wandering in the lanes of traffic.”
Lanes of southbound 101 were closed for a few hours for the investigation. All lanes were reopened by 5:30 a.m.
The name of the victim was not mentioned in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.
