Authorities investigating fatal multi-vehicle car accident on 60 Freeway

According to a recent article from MyNewsLa.com, there was a recent accident on Saturday in which a 21-year-old man was killed and three other parties injured on the eastbound Pomona 60 Freeway near Seventh Avenue in Hacienda Heights.

As mentioned in the article, the car accident took place at about 3:08 a.m. on Seventh Avenue.

The driver of a 1990 Honda, identified as an 18-year-old from Joshua Tree, struck a 21-year-old man who had been involved in a prior car accident with a Toyota Prius in the HOV lane.  The 21-year-old had gotten out of his car before he was struck.  He did not survive and paramedics declared him dead at the scene.  His name was withheld pending the notification of his kin.

Additionally, the 1990 Honda also struck a 2015 Dodge Challenger, injuring a 23-year-old man from Ontario, a 26-year-old Ontario woman, and a 17-year-old boy from Joshua Tree.  They suffered moderate to major injuries. Sources said that they were rushed to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center.

The 18-year-old driver in the 1990 Honda was identified only as a resident of Joshua Tree.  Sources reported he was not arrested, and it was unknown if he was cited.

Currently, this accident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what caused the accident.
