One single mom dead and several others hospitalized in a multi-car DUI crash in Winnetka
According to ABC 7, on Thursday morning a multi-car DUI crash resulted in one dead and several others injured in the area of Irondale Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard
According to Los Angeles Police, on Thursday morning a Dodge Challenger traveling along Roscoe Boulevard at high speed hit a Subaru, which then lost control. The Challenger kept going until it hit a Ford. The Ford then slammed into a tree, killing the single mother of early 40s.
After hitting the Ford, the Challenger spun out and caught fire. Passerby helped control the blaze until fire personnel arrived. One of the three occupants of the Challenger was transported in critical condition and two others had severe injuries.
Single occupant of the Subaru had minor injuries.
The identity of the woman killed was not released, but visibly distraught family members went to the scene of the crash and were devastated about how they would explain this tragedy to the deceased mother’s 12 year-old-son.
Investigator’s preliminary tests indicate the driver of the Challenger was driving under the influence when the incident occurred. It was not yet clear if it was drugs or alcohol. There was no indication street racing was involved.
The sole occupant in the Subaru suffered minor injuries.
The identity of the some of the victims has not yet been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
