According to The Press Democrat, a plane crashed south of Sonoma on Thursday, killing William “Bill” S. Goldman, 38, and injuring a woman, Valeria Anselmi of Milan, Italy and his two children, George and Marie.
Per the article, the single engine Cirrus SR22 plane took off around 12:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon and went down about two minutes later, crashing in a nearby field.
Authorities say half-dozen civilians worked together to get the children out of the wreckage before the emergency personnel arrived. Two children were taken to Children’s Hospital Oakland by helicopter while the female injured, Anselmi, was taken by ambulance to Queen of the Valley Hospital. Neither hospital was able to provide status updates on their conditions, although the article mentions that their injuries ranged from severe to critical.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating. Further details will be updated as they are available.
