According to a local news report, there was a fatal car crash on Thursday, May 16, 2019, leaving one victim dead and another seriously injured in Bakersfield.

Per the news source, the accident took place just after 4:00 p.m. when authorities responded to a vehicle crash. The police stated that a Buck Lacrosse struck a curb while traveling southbound on Old River Road, just north of White Lane. As a result of this, the vehicle lost a tire. Then, the car failed to stop and went through an intersection, before crashing into a traffic signal pole.

Per the Bakersfield Police, a woman was the passenger and suffered major injuries. When emergency medical personnel responded, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Furthermore, the male driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. No names were released in the news report, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

The Bakersfield Police Department issued a statement, saying that they do not know whether or not alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and new details will be reported at a later time as authorities are working to determine the cause of the motor vehicle accident and liability.
