On Tuesday, December 15, 2015, two men were killed in a drunk driving crash in Fresno County. The victims in the crash were 30-year-old Tony Reyes and his longtime friend 36-year-old Greg Cantu. According to Fresno’s ABC30, the other party involved, driver 75-year-old Lewis Burris, suffered major injuries and was kept in the hospital. The collision occurred on the intersection of Rose and Academy; Reyes and Cantu were hit and the red pickup they were in burst into flames.
California Highway Patrol has confirmed that Mr. Burris was driving drunk at the time of the collision. Court records confirm this is not his first DUI offense.
The suspect has been arrested twice before on DUI charges and was convicted once in 1996. Witnesses say there were alcohol bottles in his truck Monday. Once he leaves the hospital, he will be booked into the Fresno County Jail.
