South Los Angeles, CA (January 29, 2020) – On Monday night, January 27th, the operator of a U.S. Postal Service truck was struck by a vehicle, leaving the driver with critical injuries. The serious crash took place at around 9:00 p.m. on the 110 Freeway, in the vicinity of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Authorities stated that a red vehicle was traveling at approximately 100 mph when it struck the postal service truck. The impact of the collision sent the truck spinning out of control before it crashed into a guardrail along the south side of the freeway.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene where they attended to the driver of the truck who was pinned inside the cab of the vehicle. The victim, a 50-year-old man, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition. Two people who were inside the car that caused the crash were reported to have fled on foot. The incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the victim and his family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
