According to the California Highway Patrol, an unidentified pedestrian was walking alongside the freeway when they were struck by a silver Honda Civic in the southbound lanes. First responders were dispatched to the crash site where they found the victim down in the roadway.
The victim was pronounced deceased a short time later but authorities have not released any further information. The events that led to this incident are being investigated.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family of the victim at this time.
According to authorities, California was found to have the 15th highest rate of deadly pedestrian collisions throughout the country. These statistics were reported for just the first six months of 2017 after nearly 352 people were fatally struck in accidents with motor vehicles during that time. Pedestrians are at a considerable risk of enduring catastrophic or fatal injuries during a California pedestrian accident.
Victims and their loved ones are commonly left with significant pain and suffering, as well as the overwhelming difficulty of covering terribly high costs.
