Palmdale, CA (September 24, 2019) – An elderly woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday, September 18th, has been identified as 71-year-old Christine Loveland. Loveland was fatally hit by a car at the intersection of 10th Street West and Marketplace Drive in Palmdale at around 4:20 a.m.
According to authorities, Loveland was attempting to walk across the intersection when she was hit by a Toyota Camry. Emergency crews responded to the scene and Loveland was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The driver of the Camry remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The official cause of the crash is under investigation.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Christine Loveland at this time.
According to reports, a pedestrian is struck and killed by a motor vehicle approximately every two hours. Pedestrian accidents in California have been reported to make up 11 percent of all motor vehicle accident deaths in the state. These unfavorable statistics are commonly due to the extreme vulnerability of the victim at the time of impact, which leaves pedestrians at a higher risk of suffering serious or even fatal injuries.
Deadly accidents can occur at any time, resulting in not only the pain and suffering of losing a family member but the burden of extremely high expenses as well. While it may be difficult, it is terribly important for bereaved family members to understand that they may likely have substantial rights at this time.
