Norwalk, CA (February 6, 2020) – Authorities have now released the identities of those involved in a fatal multi-vehicle collision that occurred in the Norwalk neighborhood of Los Angeles. The accident happened on the I-605 Freeway, just a little south of Rosecrans Avenue around 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning, February 5th.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol stated that 24-year-old Alyssa Alexus Contreras, of La Puente, was heading south in a Toyota Corolla when her vehicle struck the center divider and spun into oncoming traffic. The Corolla was then struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck, as well as a Honda Accord, causing the Corolla to overturn. A Chrysler PT Cruiser was also reported to have hit the vehicle.
Contreras was sadly pronounced deceased by responding paramedics. The operator of the Dodge, identified as Jonathan J. Villalpando, 28, of Fontana, and the driver of the Honda, Jose O. Estrada, 42, of Pico Rivera, were both transported to a local hospital. Estrada suffered major injuries while Villaipando’s wounds have been classified as minor. The driver of the PT Cruiser, Milton Max Marquardt, 46, of Ontario, was uninjured in the collision.
The events that led to this crash are under investigation.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Alyssa Alexus Contreras at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
