Los Angeles, CA (August 30, 2019) – The man who was tragically struck and killed by a motor vehicle along Santa Monica Boulevard on August 21st has now been identified by police. Authorities identified the victim as 25-year-old Wayne Adams.
According to authorities, Adams was struck by a 1996 Ford pickup truck, west of Las Palmas Avenue at 5:35 a.m. in Los Angeles.
The truck was traveling west along Santa Monica Boulevard when it hit Adams while he was attempting to walk across the street.
The driver of the pickup pulled over to assist Adams while waiting for paramedics to arrive at the scene. Adams was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries two days later.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Wayne Adams at this time.
Due to the extreme vulnerability of the victim at the time of impact, pedestrians are at a higher risk of suffering serious or even fatal injuries during an accident with a motor vehicle. In fact, pedestrian accidents in California have been reported to make up 11% of all California motor vehicle accident deaths.
Unfortunately, fatal accidents can occur at any time, subsequently leaving loved ones with not only the pain and suffering of losing a family member but extremely high expenses as well. While it may be difficult, it is important for both victims or a bereaved family to understand that they likely have significant rights at this time.
