Los Angeles, CA – Two Pedestrians Killed in Accident at Normandie Ave & 95th St

Los Angeles, CA (September 25, 2019) – A hit-and-run auto-pedestrian accident claimed the lives of two men in the Westmount section of South Los Angeles on Tuesday night, September 24th. Officials with the California Highway Patrol stated that the incident occurred at the intersection of Normandie Avenue and 95th Street around 8:25 p.m.

The driver of an unspecified vehicle was operating at a high rate of speed when he struck the two men at the intersection. The driver of the vehicle continued south on Normandie and did not stop.

Paramedics arrived at the accident site where they found the victims, identified only as a man in his 20s and a man in his 40s, down in the roadway. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and one was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

CHP officers stated that the vehicle in question left its license plate at the scene, and the driver abandoned the vehicle at Western Avenue and 81st Street.

Authorities are searching for the vehicle as part of their investigation into this incident.

We would like to offer our condolences to the families of both victims at this time.

Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in California

Due to the extreme vulnerability of the victim at the time of impact, pedestrians are at a higher risk of suffering serious or even fatal injuries during an accident with a motor vehicle. In fact, pedestrian accidents in California have been reported to make up 11 percent of all California motor vehicle accident deaths.

Unfortunately, fatal accidents can occur at any time, subsequently leaving loved ones with not only the pain and suffering of losing a family member but extremely high expenses as well. While it may be difficult, it is important for both victims or a bereaved family to understand that they likely have significant rights at this time.
