Los Angeles, CA (February 6, 2020) – A man was tragically killed after being struck by a motor vehicle in South Los Angeles on Thursday morning, February 6th. The incident, which involved a hit-and-run driver, took place around 1:00 a.m. on Hill Street, in the vicinity of Adams Boulevard.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the victim, identified only as a 34-year-old man, was walking across the street when he was hit by a Toyota Prius. The driver of the Prius fled the area immediately after the incident.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene where they sadly pronounced the victim deceased. Authorities stated that they later found the Prius and apprehended the driver.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the victim at this time.
From 2012 until 2016, fatal pedestrian accidents in California were found to have risen by around 32.8 percent, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. These types of collisions are so-often deadly because of the sheer lack of defense in place for victims, but also due to the reckless and sometimes blatantly criminal actions of negligent motorists. While it is incontestably challenging to suffer a sudden injury or the loss of a loved one, it is important for victims and their families to safeguard their rights in the moments following a sudden accident.
At The May Firm, our accident attorneys are committed to holding negligent and blatantly criminal drivers accountable for the devastation they cause.
