Long Beach, CA (February 9, 2020) – A 71-year-old pedestrian was killed after she was hit by a bus while crossing the street in Long Beach.
The Long Beach Police Department was called to Magnolia Avenue at the intersection of West Third Street around 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 8th and determined that Mamlekat Joseph was attempting to cross Magnolia when she was struck by a 2002 Bluebird Bus. The bus was traveling northbound on Magnolia. Joseph was in a crosswalk when she was struck.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found Joseph trapped beneath the bus. She died at the scene of the crash. The bus driver, a 25-year-old man from Van Nuys, remained on scene.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time. No further details have been released.
