Littlerock, CA (January 26, 2020) – A 65-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash that took place on Pearblossom Highway. The crash was initially reported on Thursday, January 23rd.
According to reports, Jeri Kennedy was walking her dog in the 7600 block of Pearblossom around 8:00 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Alfredo Rodriguez, 62. The California Highway Patrol, along with rescue crews, responded to the crash scene. Rodriguez fled the scene before authorities could arrive. Kennedy was later pronounced dead from her injuries.
Rodriguez struck several other vehicles as he fled from the scene, injuring six other people. At least two of those victims were seriously hurt. Police later arrested Rodriguez for suspicion of DUI.
No further information is available.
Our condolences go out to the family of Jeri Kennedy.
More than 3,000 people are killed each year due to crashes that take place throughout our state. Drivers who choose to operate a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs certainly contribute to these numbers. There is nothing more reckless or irresponsible than a driver who chooses to get behind the wheel while they are impaired. Unfortunately, as we see here, the results can be catastrophic.
