Lake Hughes, CA (February 27, 2020) – Officials with the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that two people were hospitalized following a head-on collision in Lake Hughes. The accident was reported Wednesday morning, February 26th, along San Francisquito Canyon Road at around 6:10 p.m.
According to authorities, the accident involved a sedan and a public works vehicle. Firefighters and officers were dispatched to the scene near Elizabeth Lake Road to assist the victims of which one person who was trapped had to be extricated.
An air ambulance was required at the scene where it flew one of the victims to a nearby trauma center. One other victim was transported to a hospital via ground ambulance. The current conditions of the two victims were not reported. The accident remains under investigation.
According to officials, injuries triggered by collisions were shown to be directly responsible for the fatalities of more than 3,500 people all throughout California in 2018.
