Koreatown, CA (October 16, 2019) – A fatal pedestrian accident claimed the life of a young girl on Wednesday morning, October 16th, according to Los Angeles police. The incident happened in Koreatown, at the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Normandie Avenue.
Officials stated that the driver of an unspecified vehicle struck the young pedestrian at approximately 7:45 a.m. The driver remained at the scene as paramedics arrived with police.
The victim was transported to a local area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries at around 9:00 a.m. Authorities have not released any identifying information at this time. The incident is under investigation.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the victim at this time.
According to reports, a pedestrian is struck and killed by a motor vehicle approximately every two hours. Pedestrian accidents in California have been reported to make up 11 percent of all motor vehicle accident deaths in the state. These unfavorable statistics are commonly due to the extreme vulnerability of the victim at the time of impact, which leaves pedestrians at a higher risk of suffering serious or even fatal injuries.
Deadly accidents can occur at any time, resulting in not only the pain and suffering of losing a family member but the burden of extremely high expenses as well. While it may be difficult, it is terribly important for bereaved family members to understand that they may likely have substantial rights at this time.
