Granada Hills, CA (November 22, 2019) – The two teenage college students who died in a collision with a garbage truck on Wednesday afternoon, November 20th, have been identified by police. Authorities stated that the two College of the Canyons students were traveling in a white 2002 Acura RSX with one other 18-year-old student passenger in the backseat when they collided with a garbage truck. The three victims were transported to two separate hospitals where Oh and Gallegos were pronounced deceased. The current condition of the third victim was not reported.
Police are actively investigating the events that led to this incident.
We would like to offer our condolences to the families of both Eugene Oh and Sebastian Gallegos at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family in hopes of a full recovery.
In 2017, over 4500 lives were lost and more than 9,000 people suffered injuries as the result of accidents involving large trucks. Although nearly every car accident in California can quickly turn devastating, a crash with a large truck will often have serious consequences due to the immense size and power of such vehicles.
