Escondido, CA (March 14, 2020) – A man who was killed in a bicycle crash in Escondido last week has been identified by authorities. The crash originally happened on Friday, March 6th in Escondido.
According to reports, 21-year-old Joseph Edwin Palacios was riding his bicycle northbound on Cedar Street when he attempted to make a turn onto East Grand Avenue. As Palacios was turning, his bicycle was hit by a Dodge Grand Caravan that was traveling eastbound. The driver of the Caravan was identified as a 39-year-old man from Escondido.
Responding officials pronounced Palacios dead at the crash scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene following the incident. There is no word on whether any charges are expected.
An investigation remains ongoing.
