Costa Mesa, CA (January 7, 2020) – On Monday afternoon, January 6th, a multi-vehicle collision left three people injured in Costa Mesa. The crash happened at the intersection of 19th Street and Meyer Place at approximately 12:30 p.m., according to police.
Officials with the Costa Mesa Fire Department stated that the accident involved an SUV, a pickup truck, and a compact car that collided at the intersection. The SUV was reported to have overturned following the impact of the collision–causing an individual to become trapped in their car.
Firefighters extricated the victim from the wreckage and transported the individual to a local trauma center. At least one other person was hospitalized and a total of three suffered injuries. Investigators are presently working to determine the cause of the incident.
Our thoughts are with the victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Multi-vehicle accidents in California are repetitively fatal or catastrophically injurious for many of those involved. Crashes that involve more than two vehicles are often among the most serious in nature, especially those which occur at an intersection or head-on. In fact, the deaths of 48 people per 100,000 have been reported as the results of injuries that were sustained during severe collisions throughout the state.
