Chula Vista, CA (February 2, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a deadly wrong-way crash in Chula Vista on Saturday, February 2nd. The crash was reported around 5:00 a.m. on Interstate 5, near the intersection of J Street and Bay Boulevard.
According to police reports, a vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it collided with a vehicle that was traveling southbound. Rescue workers arrived on the scene shortly after the crash.
Two people were pronounced dead due to their injuries. The victims have not been identified and it is unclear in which car they were riding at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
