On December 8, 2015, six children at Alice Shaw Elementary School in Orcutt were injured when a car crashes into a lunch line.  According to The Santa Maria Times, the children injured were treated for their injuries and released to their parents. One child, a boy with moderate injuries, was trapped under the vehicle and airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. There has been no word one the child’s current condition or the extent of his injuries. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

This pedestrian accident was reported at around 12:00 p.m. when an elderly women hit the gas instead of the brake and crashed her car into a flag pole where the children were standing. The collision took place near the intersection of Loch Lomond Drive and Hillview Road in Orcutt. The crash was under the investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
